Bee Study
I wanted to have honeybees for quite some time before I got up the guts to order a nuc (box-o-bees). You've never lived until you've driven 50-60 miles with your kids and about 10,000 buzzing honeybees in the car. -but I digress- As I was studying up on this hobby, I realized that I did not want to go about it like a traditional beekeeper, what's the fun of that anyway,..
Creating the hive
So I decided to design and construct my own hive using my carpentry sensabilities. Efficient use of material, ease of construction and of course proportional aesthetic and utility were all important. The result was outstanding if I do say so myself. And, going into my fifth successful season with the same original hive. I think its ready for prim-time. Welcome -Organic Hive™.
Getting bees!
There are only two ways to get bees. Order them, like I did. Or steal them. Both work. How do you steal bees? Well, first you create an inviting environment and then wait patiently. -remember,..-"if you build it, they will come". You can also employ various "visualization" techniques...And just for fun,..I'll also include a few tips for this method with any order.
